TruckAlpha is committed to making its VIN decoding service usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing effort rather than a one-time project.
The optional VIN camera scanner is a convenience feature and is never required. Every lookup can be performed by typing the VIN into a standard, fully labeled text field, so the Service is completely usable without a camera, without vision-dependent input, and without granting any device permissions.
The Service is built to work with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) on desktop and mobile, and with common assistive technologies such as screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS, TalkBack), screen magnifiers, and voice-control software. It does not require any plug-ins.
Some vehicle report content is sourced directly from third-party government databases (NHTSA), and we cannot control the wording, structure, or completeness of that source data — for example, complaint narratives are displayed as published by NHTSA. Where source data is presented, we format it into accessible, structured markup to the extent possible. If you encounter any part of a report that is difficult to use with assistive technology, please tell us and we will address the presentation on our side.
We evaluate accessibility through self-assessment, including automated testing tools, keyboard-only navigation checks, and screen reader spot checks. This statement is reviewed and updated as the Service changes.
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of TruckAlpha. If you experience any barrier using this site, or need information from it in an alternative format, contact us at hello@truckalpha.com with "Accessibility" in the subject line. Please describe the page and the problem you encountered, and the browser and assistive technology you were using if possible. We aim to respond within 5 business days and to fix verified barriers promptly.
